The difference between overweight and slim people, Explained by a doctor in one sentence!

A doctor once said: Slim people lose their appetite over various things—they don’t feel like eating when they’re sick or upset.

But for those who are overweight, anything can trigger their appetite. If they’re sick, they’ll eat something hearty to "recover." If work is stressful, they’ll comfort themselves with hot pot. If they’re unhappy, they’ll "cheer up" with barbecue. If they’re happy, they’ll celebrate with a cake. For them, almost nothing kills their appetite. Even if a meal doesn’t taste great, they’ll say, "Oh well, I’ll just eat this to tide me over and have something I really enjoy later."  

A Korean reality show once followed a woman who claimed she "gains weight just by drinking water." She had been dieting for 20 years, 365 days a year, yet never lost weight.

After 24 hours of filming, the truth was eye-opening: She wasn’t genetically prone to weight gain. Instead, she had a "forgetful metabolism"—she’d devour fried chicken, burgers, chocolate, milk tea, and Coke, then instantly forget she’d eaten them.  

So, weight gain does have a cause. No one gains weight for no reason, and certainly not from water alone. It’s usually about failing to control cravings. To lose weight, you have to feel hungry. When hungry, drink water. When tempted, resist. The simplest, most direct rule? Eat less.  

A doctor from Chongqing put it bluntly: "To lose weight, you must feel hungry at every meal, every day. Hunger burns fat. Feeling hungry before meals is the starting point of weight loss. If you’re serious, say goodbye to sugary drinks, fried chicken, desserts, midnight snacks—they’re no longer part of your life."  

Whether you’re overweight or slim, weight management hinges on sustainable lifestyle changes—not extreme diets or workouts. Key habits include eating less salt, drinking more water, and avoiding late nights. Long-term consistency, not short-term suffering, is what works.
